The Status of Women and Youth Mental Health in Metro Atlanta 2026

Women and girls in metro Atlanta face rising mental health challenges driven by economic pressure, caregiving demands, trauma, and systemic inequities. In 2025, AWF commissioned a comprehensive, multi-county study, which found that mental health challenges among women and youth are widespread, intensifying, and deeply rooted in systemic conditions.
