We invest in and collaborate with mission-aligned organizations committed to expanding opportunities for underserved communities and those lacking access to critical resources.

Georgia faces significant disparities in education and mental health, with communities of color and families with limited resources experiencing gaps in access, quality, and outcomes. Barriers such as cost, workforce shortages, and systemic inequities prevent children and families from receiving the education and mental health support they need to thrive.

The Fitzgerald Foundation has developed its 2024 strategic plan in direct response to the pressing needs expressed by communities. We believe expanding access to high-quality, culturally relevant services requires well-supported providers and cross-sector collaboration that meets people where they are and reflects the lived experiences of those most impacted.

Uniting for Equity in Education and Mental Health

Education

Recognizing the transformative power of skilled educators, we support initiatives that attract, prepare, and retain a diverse early childhood and K-12 teacher workforce that reflects the demographics of the students they serve. By fostering equitable opportunities for both educators and students, we aim to close achievement gaps and build a future full of possibilities.

Mental Health

We are committed to improving mental health in Georgia by expanding access to care, reducing stigma, and supporting a diverse workforce that reflects the communities it serves. Through partnerships and community-based solutions, we help build effective systems that support mental well-being and ensure individuals and families get the resources they need to thrive.

Grantmaking Strategic Priorities

The Fitzgerald Foundation is committed to addressing these disparities by investing in and collaborating with organizations across the 21-county metro area with a focus on:

Cultivating Talent, Promoting Collective Action, Advancing Systemic Change

If your organization’s work aligns with these priorities, we invite you to apply for funding support. Learn more about our previous grantees.

Beyond grantmaking, the Foundation seeks to collaborate with mission-aligned networks or funder collaboratives to address systemic barriers in education and mental health that limit access to services and workforce participation. If there are opportunities where our engagement could add value and foster mutual learning, we welcome your ideas. Contact us to collaborate.

Funding Focus

The Foundation supports organizations that improve education and mental health access for families with limited incomes, with a focus on strengthening the workforce, driving lasting solutions, and fostering collaboration.

While needs exist statewide, funding is concentrated on organizations serving the 21-county Metro Atlanta area to maximize impact and deepen understanding of local systems.

We believe the greatest impact comes from grounding efforts in communities, prioritizing organizations led by leaders who reflect the populations they serve, and supporting advocacy that drives meaningful policy change.
